What Did I Do? I was a volunteer on 9W. I was in charge of cleaning the toy rooms and then I also went around to patients' rooms to help the nurses as needed. I was able to take some responsibilities off of the busy workload that the nurses had.
-
Why Did I Choose To Volunteer? One of the main reasons I chose Riley Children's Hospital was due to my passion for working with pediatric patients. My main goal was to become a light in the patients' lives and be able to be someone that they looked forward to seeing.

-
Time frame: August 2023 to Present

What Do I Do? I am a leader and communicator of one of the residential floors in University Tower, a dorm hall on campus. I communicate and establish the resident curriculum throughout my residential floor. I guide roommate and resident conflict using problem solving skills which include “I am” statements and providing campus resources. I also advocate for the residents of IUPUI by communicating issues up the chain of command instead of out.
-
Why Did I Choose This Job? I chose to be a Resident Assistant (RA) mainly for the leadership position. I wanted to be able to help and supervise students, improve my communication and problem solving skills, and also the RA's I had my freshmen year inspired me. My RA's were dedicated to helping the people on our floor and always made me feel comfortable enough to talk to them about anything. I wanted the chance to be a role model and guide for others, just like how my RA's were for me.

Patient Care Intern
-
Time frame: October 2024 to Present
-
Where? IU Methodist on 5E - Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit
-
What Do I Do? On most days I have 10 patients that I take care of. Every four hours I take their vital signs and get blood sugars. I help patients perform activities of daily living, perform bladder scans and EKGs as needed, and obtain morning weights. I also advocate for my patients and collaborate with other healthcare professionals in order to effectively personalize their care.
-
Why Did I Choose This Job? I chose this job because I wanted to gain hands on experience. I have always been interested in the heart so I picked a cardiovascular unit. I also wanted to become familiar with some of the basic skills that a nurse has day to day, so I am more experienced going into my future Registered Nursing License position. I am also in nursing school so this job has allowed me to practice some of the skills that I have learned in the hospital. I was excited to learn how to navigate the hospital, communicate with patients, collaborate with other healthcare team members, and overall improve my comfortability and confidence.

What Do I Do? I assisted the instructor with coordinating and monitoring all service learning activities. I served as a guide for social issues and service learning activities. I helped with feedback, evaluation, and grading of service learning projects, discussions, and other course assignments. I communicated with students about service opportunities, deadlines, and other topics. I helped create tools for facilitating service learning course goals activities. I assisted instructors with other teaching activities as requested, such as updating Canvas and course materials. I contributed as a member of the P105 team by attending weekly meetings and sharing resources across sections.
-
Why Did I Choose This Job? I was interested in this service-learning assistantship position to strengthen my skills, like leadership and communication, and follow my passions. Service learning is a huge passion of mine, so I wanted to be able to encourage and help others explore the philanthropic side of life. Another passion of mine I was able to pursue through this position was assisting others and leading them towards success. I had also gone through the P105 course as a student, so I understood all of the assignments and how the course ran. My most memorable experience I had while taking P105 was working on my Honors Contract. I was able to research the philanthropic side of nursing and put my skills into practice through volunteering. I also loved presenting and being able to communicate with my professor about the class while also focusing on how it all correlates with nursing.
